Hey, you appear to be on a phone
I don't think that'll do you much good here, since I imagine the Eagler expirence on mobile isn't the greatest. I'd suggest going back home and coming back here when you're on a computer (although it does work if you really wanna try it
Important interactions between versions to note
- This probably goes without saying, but the ViaVersion, ViaBackwards, and ViaRewind plugins can only translate so much.
- For example, copper will appear as iron ore (which is annoying), copper ingots will appear as bricks.
- If you want to craft newer items (e.g. Copper Leggings), then you'll have to know the recipe
- Even though the 12.2.2 clients have a recipe book, trying to search through it crashes the game.
- On the contrary, while you can stil craft new recipes on 1.8.8, the resulting item box will appear empty.
- Some items will simply be non-fuctional, for example, the Spyglass from 1.17 (although 1.8.8 clients allow you to zoom in with 'C' for some reason)
- All clients below version 1.17 (so all clients here) are unable to render anything below y=0, and it is just void
- To make up for that fact that worlds on newer versions only have a very limited amount of resources, particularly diamonds, before y=0, all chunks between x cordinates -3000 to 0, and z cordinates 1500 to -1500 were generated in version 1.16.5.
- The server will send a fake blanket of bedrock at y=0 on these clients to prevent them from getting stuck in the "void".
- Whatever you do, DO NOT LOG OUT ON BEDROCK. Upon login you will be in between the bedrock and the void and become permenantly stuck without someones assistance
- If you login on a newer client, go below y=0, and then log back in on an older one, you will be able to move around jankily and somewhat interact with the invisible world. Please don't do this to yourself.
- While clients before 1.9 do not natively support the offhand feature, you can execute the
/offhandcommand to store an item in your offhand- Other players on newer versions will be able to properly see the item in your offhand, and torches will still emit light, but you are unable to use things like shields, see maps, or place blocks
- This effectively acts as an invisible inventory slot to you
- For some reason, the dynamic lighting doesn't update properly on the 12.2.2 clients
- Clients older than 1.9 (the Combat Update) will not natively have a visible attack bar. Instead, there will be a series of dots under the crosshair of these clients to make them aware.
- Shift-clicking has some weird server-desync sometimes, although infrequent
- The default binds on these clients are...weird (e.g. sprint is 'R' by default)
I'm sure there are many things I missed, however, that might change what clients you're planning on trying.
1.8.8
- The OG Eaglercraft (at least the first with Singleplayer)
- The most stable version, least likely to crash
- Supports the Dynamic Lighting plugin along with numerous settings for graphics

1.8.8 WASM
- Slightly less stable, but way way way more performant
- Otherwise it's been the same as 1.8.8 from my testing
